Microsoft Works 2.0
Microsoft Works 2.0 was the first version of Microsoft's Integrated office suite to be released for the Microsoft Windows platform. THis version of Works included a Word Processor, Spreadsheet, Database and a feature called 'WorksWizards' that would allow you to very easily creat form letters, address books and mailing labels by having Works take you through the process step-by-step. This would pave the way for easy document creation not only in future versions of Microsoft Works or Microsoft Publisher, but also in Microsoft's larger office applications such as Word, Excel, and later PowerPoint and Access, and even in their Visual Studio line of software as well as in other Microsoft Products, and even Windows itself.
Works 2.0 also featured support for the common file formats of the day including WordPerfect 5, Microsoft Word for Windows, Lotus 1-2-3 and dBase meaning that you could load documents created with more full-featured applications into Works 2.0 and work with them. This was useful for people who wanted to take work home.
Due to the price-point Works 2.0 was sold at, a lot of smaller businesses would use it over larger applications such as Lotus 1-2-3, WordPerfect, Microsoft Word or dBase.
